They are Diverse
According to a report published by the Brookings Institute, American millennials are by far the most diverse generation in our history.16 Most of the baby boomers and their parents and grandparents were born when immigration was historically low, and the immigrants who did come to America were mostly white Europeans, the institute says. The nation’s minority population was much smaller than it is now and was predominately African American in highly segregated cities. However, large numbers of immigrants to the US in the 1980s and 1990s, especially from Latin America and Asia, along with an aging white population, “has made millennials a more racially and ethnically diverse generation than any that preceded it,” the report concludes.
They Want to Succeed
A big facet of this trait is learning what their strengths are and letting them be free to use them to help you. This can greatly help grow your company and your organization, while it gives them exactly what they need. The biggest desire millennials want out of work is to feel like they’re really good at what they’re doing. They want to be great at it; they want to be an expert at it. That’s a big positive attribute and capitalizing on that and getting them the tools they need so that they can be really good at their job is a key strategy for hiring and retaining them.
They Can Multitask
They typically do well in jobs that require multitasking and switching from one project to the next. They are adept at keeping multiple, concurrent projects going at the same time. In fact, that drives them. They’re also tend to like collaborating. They’re really good at sharing ideas without getting their feelings hurt. I think they’re a little bit better than some other generations. They’re a little bit more open to kicking things around and talking, as opposed to taking orders from above. I believe they are a little bit more abstract in their thinking, not as black and white, which can also help an organization thrive and adapt in a swiftly changing marketplace.
