If you’ve been recruiting this year, you have probably noticed candidates are taking other offers after accepting yours. You may have also noticed that candidates start positions and then leave within 90 days. Providers are getting more offers and are being recruited harder than ever.
When you make an offer this year, the provider likely has 3-5 other competing offers. The war for talent in 2022 is real and it’s made your job harder!
The time to recruit and the cost of turnover is high! There’s a lot at stake.
So, what can you do?
- When you offer a candidate the position, do it over the phone and explain in detail why you picked them and what you think they can accomplish with your organization.
- Keep recruiting them after they sign with you. Stay in touch consistently…via text, email, and calls….have other providers in the organization reach out to the newly signed candidate…letting them know how excited you are to have them. Don’t wait until they start to begin building the relationship.
- Keep recruiting them during their first 90 days. Try pairing them up with a mentor to meet with them periodically, constantly ask them how things are going, ask what you can do to make their role better, ask what resources they need and what they think is confusing or broken.
If you can keep them employed for 90 days, the odds of keeping them for multiple years goes up! Fight to keep them 90 days…maybe even offer added benefits after 90 days, or offer a retention bonus for staying 90 days, or make them eligible for performance bonuses after 90 days.
Thanks!
