This technique is so important and easy to implement. The technique is to ask them often during the interview process “What questions do you have for me?”
Ask this at the end of the first phone interview and at the beginning of all calls and face-to-face interviews. Why?
It does two things:
- It tells you their main motivators and do those motivators align with your position and your organization. a) If all they ask is about compensation and earning potential, you know what their main motivator is and whether or not that aligns.
- It tells you their passion level – their desire to be excellent in the role. a) If a candidate doesn’t ask a lot of questions during the interview process, typically that indicates a lack of passion for their career and/or this role.
These are easy to implement, but powerful.
Let me know how it goes if you try this technique.
