From the Desk of David Wolfe, Founder & CEO
Let candidates know the hard and negative aspects of the position during the recruiting process.
Talk them out of the job.
Why?
- Resilient people will welcome and love the challenge and you will know you have a great hire. It will push away people that aren’t cut out for the role.
- It also sets expectations so that there are no surprises once they are 1-3 months into the position. You reduce the chances of someone leaving 1-6 months in.
Examples of this in nursing:
“It’s going to be so much time on your feet, your feet are going to be killing you at the end of each shift.”
“Your team is going to frustrate you to the point that you may just go into a closet and cry.”
“Patients are going to curse at you and call you things no one has ever called you.”
