The 10 Commandments of Recruiting
Law #1
Your job descriptions must be very attractive to attract ‘A Players.’ Become excellent at creating ABJDs – Attraction Based Job Descriptions (see below 6 steps).
- They need to be mostly about ‘what’s in it for them’ / the benefits to them. They can’t only be about the role, requirements, and responsibilities. Most job descriptions are all about what the candidate needs to get done for the employer. Most of the content needs to be about the benefits and features of the role (WIFM) and it needs to include details about the opening.
- People are attracted to details. E.g., salary range, exact schedule, exact size of team, avg # of patients seen per day, bonus earning potential, etc. If the Job description is vague, less people apply because they don’t know what they are applying for… roughly 95% of all job descriptions are way too vague.
6 Steps to Attractive Job Descriptions:
ABJDs-Attraction-Based Job Descriptions must have these 6 things:
1. is mostly about what’s in it for them (not you)
2. has details and #s, not vague statements. People are attracted to details.
3. talks about your story, where the company is going and how they fit into your story / why this role is important.
4. includes a specific salary range (depending on experience) and bonus potential (a specific range)
5. talks about how you value and appreciate your team.
6. has a compelling headline (at the top of the ABJD) with direct contact info to apply.
Thanks!
